SAD but Solistice is Coming!
For my friends dealing with Seasonal Affective Disorder (and really everyone this year), please hang in there! One month from today is winter solstice, the day with the least amount of daylight in this hemisphere. After that, the days will start getting longer again! I always look forward to the winter solstice, but this year is even harder than usual because I don’t have Thanksgiving or Christmas travel to see family planned. I’m sharing this tomato mandala I created on October 23 from the final garden clean-out to add something bright for inspiration.
I’ve found it interesting in the past to ask others what they do to combat the winter blues - what works best for you? For me it’s getting enough exercise and yoga, getting outside as much as I can during the day when it’s warm enough (hiking is better than being in my yard), using a full spectrum light bulb in the evenings, going to bed early so I can be up around sunrise, hydrating, and trying to have things to look forward to in the evenings.
