I miss our midnight conversations
the way our snuggles felt
how much you made me laugh
the stories that you’d tell

the sparkle in your eyes
the excitement in your voice
I could always be myself

the way we talked through conflict
you considered my feelings
your kindness towards the homeless
how you slowly let me in

your ability to learn
but inability to stay clean
how I could help you keep on task
and help you find your keys

how you always cooked
without recipes
how you loved when hot sauce
brought you to your knees
