Sometimes Things Change
"You'll never leave Minnesota"
He says like he knows and then laughs
For the first time she feels like she can
Nothing really is holding her back
Her roots are planted firmly
But she sees options everywhere
They say your dreams aren't big enough
If they don't give you a scare
Go south to escape from the tundra
But not far enough to hit desert
Avoid the coast for traffic and hurricanes
Stay close enough to her parents
She loves water but not stagnant ponds
Some states still need exploration
Rivers and mountains and waterfalls
Would be nice but are not required
It seems to make the most sense
To go where there are connections
Every climate has flaws
You'll never find perfection
She needs to keep her mind open
Think it through but not ruminate
Anywhere will be an adventure
Know she can always come back
